Sydney Cruise Terminal Transfers: Which Terminal Is Your Ship At? (2026-27 Guide)

Sydney has two cruise terminals: the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and the White Bay Cruise Terminal in Rozelle. Your cruise documents say which one your ship uses, and it matters, because the two are a 15 to 20 minute drive apart and are reached in very different ways. Circular Quay has ferries, trains and light rail close by. White Bay has no train or ferry, which is why many cruisers book a private transfer. This guide covers both terminals so you arrive at the right one, on time.
Which Sydney cruise terminal is my ship at?
It depends mainly on the size of the ship. The Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay takes the largest ships, which cannot fit under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. White Bay, west of the bridge, is used by mid-sized ships that can pass underneath.
Check your cruise documents before you plan anything, and check again closer to departure. Terminals can change. This winter, Carnival moved some Carnival Adventure sailings to White Bay while work was done on the berth at Circular Quay, and on a few sailings guests boarded at one terminal and disembarked at the other. Port Authority NSW has been running a berthing upgrade at the Overseas Passenger Terminal this year.

Overseas Passenger Terminal (Circular Quay): how to get there
The terminal is on the corner of Argyle and George Streets in The Rocks, on Circular Quay West. It is the most central of Sydney’s two cruise terminals.
Public transport: Circular Quay station, the ferry wharves and light rail are all within walking distance. The furthest ferry wharf is about 450 metres away.
Drop-off: passengers are dropped on the lower roadway at Circular Quay West, outside the terminal. For security reasons, drivers cannot leave their vehicle, and the area is for dropping off and collecting passengers only.
Parking: there is no parking at the terminal on cruise ship days, and no waiting bays for pick-ups.
Luggage: you hand your bags in at the bag drop and board with your cabin bags.
Because there is nowhere to wait, a kerb-side goodbye from a friend can get rushed. A chauffeur who knows the drop-off point takes the pressure out of the last few minutes.
White Bay Cruise Terminal (Rozelle): how to get there
White Bay is on James Craig Road in Rozelle, in an industrial harbour area. There is no train or ferry service, and public bus options are limited, so most cruisers arrive by car, taxi, rideshare or a pre-booked transfer.
Access: on cruise ship days, public vehicles can only reach the terminal via James Craig Road from The Crescent, not via Robert Street in Balmain. Make sure your driver knows.
Drop-off: the drop-off area is directly outside the terminal and open to private pick-ups and drop-offs through the day.
Parking: there is no long-term parking at the terminal.
Luggage storage: there are no luggage storage facilities at or near the terminal, so do not plan on dropping your bags off early.
Services: there is a cafe in the terminal, but little else around it.

How long does it take to get there from Sydney Airport?
According to Royal Caribbean’s directions, the Overseas Passenger Terminal is about 16 km from Sydney Airport, roughly a 35 minute trip, and White Bay is about 19 km away, roughly 25 minutes. Those are guides only. Sydney traffic, events and ship days can change them, so leave a buffer.
If you are flying in on the day, build in time for delays and baggage collection before your cruise’s arrival time. Many cruise lines give each guest a time window, so check yours. Chauffr offers private transfers between Sydney Airport and Sydney’s cruise terminals, and we monitor arrivals so your pickup matches your flight.
Why book a private cruise transfer?
Cruise days are heavy with luggage, short drop-off windows and strict access rules. A private transfer takes care of those problems:
No parking to find. Neither terminal offers long-term parking, so driving yourself means arranging somewhere to leave the car for the whole cruise.
Door to door. That matters most for White Bay, where there is no train or ferry.
Luggage help. Your chauffeur assists with your bags and takes you to the vehicle.
Space for everyone. Group transfers can use Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Sprinter vehicles. Tell us your passenger and luggage numbers, including prams, mobility aids and oversized items, so we can arrange the right vehicle.
Families. Baby capsules, child seats and boosters can be requested, subject to availability. Give us each child’s age when you book. See our family transfers.
Chauffr provides private transfers to and from the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and White Bay Cruise Terminal, and other Sydney cruise pickup locations by arrangement. Your quote sets out the agreed price and inclusions. Additional stops, waiting time or changes to the booking may affect the final price.
